Die Spezies Diaporthe und die asexuelle Form Phomopsis, sind eine Gruppe von pathogenen (schädlichen) Pilzen, "unschädlicher" Endophyten und saprobiontisch lebenden Pilzen. Es sind mehrere hundert Arten bekannt. Interessant sind diese Pilze besonders im Zusammenhang mit der Landwirtschaft und Ackerbau, da Infektionen an Kulturen durch pathogene Arten grosse Schäden anrichten können.
